Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries use lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material. Thanks to their stable olivine crystal structure, they offer excellent thermal stability and safety, and are regarded as one of the most reliable lithium battery chemistries.
Advantages: high safety, long cycle life (over 2000 cycles), good high-temperature performance, no heavy metals and relatively low cost.
Disadvantages: comparatively lower energy density and a slightly lower nominal voltage (about 3.2V per cell), which means larger volume and weight for the same capacity.
Typical applications: energy storage systems, electric vehicles, electric forklifts, golf carts, marine and industrial equipment, as well as 12V-96V smart battery packs for industrial and IoT devices.
